Come shag with us.

Since vacationing teens and college students began taking to Ocean Drive to shag throughout the 1950s and 60s, North Myrtle Beach has served as the heart and soul of the Carolina Beach Music movement.

Over the years, the music — a combination of Rock, Pop, R&B and Boogie Blues — has caught on for fans of all sort and the shagger lifestyle has grown into a worldwide phenomenon reaching far beyond the sands of the Grand Strand.

To this day, Main Street North Myrtle Beach and its surrounding area serve as a hub of shagger activity, with numerous shag clubs peppered throughout the area and a variety of shagger events and concerts throughout the year.

Pirate's Cove is proud to be part of this storied tradition, and caters to this community of fun-loving folks with tons of great events including shag lessons, club gatherings and DJs spinning all the classic tunes on a regular basis.

SOS Events at The Cove

Pirate's Cove has long been part of the annual events hosted by The Society of Stranders, an organization dedicated to promoting shag dancing & the lifestyle that surrounds it into the future while keeping in touch with the past that gave birth to this phenomenon.

These events include two week-long events, the SOS Spring Safari and Fall Migration, as well as the weekend-long Mid Winter Break and various other workshops and parties during the year.

During these events we host dance lessons, exhibitions, group meetings, parties and special meals and offers catered specifically for the shagger crowd.
